Hi! I'm Lisa Hatfield. I was born in Illinois, but in elementary school I lived in Bogota, Colombia for two years; that was when I learned about the world outside the U.S., and I have never been the same since.

I earned a BA in Geography from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. More recently I have earned both a Certificate of Training in Linguistically Different Education from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a K-12 Linguistically Diverse Education teaching license from Western State College, Gunnison.

Since 2001, I have worked with ELL students who speak Russian, Japanese, Danish, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, and French. I speak Spanish and tiny bit of French, and I want to learn to read Korean characters.
